SARAH NIXEY
SARAH NIXEY returns with her own special rendition of The Human League’s unsung classic “The Black Hit of Space”, on ServiceAV on July 9th. This is a song that could have been written only yesterday or perhaps slightly further into the future. It depicts a single tune which swallows all possible outlets, and becomes the only song you can hear or buy. The dark laconic lo-fi humour of the original is transposed by SARAH NIXEY’s crisp correct clear presentation into a post-modern electro-gothic moon-stomp. “The Black Hit of Space” is produced by James Banbury, once of some other indie-miserablists, and more recently string arranger for Bloc Party, Editors, and Snow Patrol. He also fills his head with heady ideas as head honcho of the boutique record label ServiceAV. “The Black Hit of Space” features a video directed and edited by the award winning Andreas Horvath, shot, with the smallest crew ever holding a torch and a laptop, over a few days and nights in Salzburg, Austria. It is the visual anti-Sound Of Music, the missing link between Hammer Horror and Dance of the Vampires. The single is being launched at The Luminaire on July 4th – Kilburn High Road, London NW6.
