TINCHY STRYDER
2009 has started very well for 22 year old, Ghanaian born and East London based Star in the Hood, Tinchy Stryder. Having been tipped in 2008 as a rising star by everyone from Wiley (who gave him the moniker "prince of grime") and Jack Penate through to MTV, Radio 1, The Guardian, and (bizarrely) Norman Lamb, the current MP of Norfolk, the world's hottest 5ft 3inch grime MC is proving worthy of the hype. Tinchy Stryder's "Take Me Back" featuring Taio Cruz released early in January this year, not only debuted at No. 3, but also scored a No. 1 on the video airplay chart, and a top 10 position on the national radio airplay chart. Now Tinchy unleashes another bona fide hit. Also a collaborative effort, "Number 1" features vocals from N-Dubz Dappy, and is produced by their mututal friend Frazer T. Smith. So well did Dappy and Tinchy get on in the studio recording the track, that N-Dubz have invited Tinchy to join them on their upcoming spring tour. "Number 1" is released on Takeover Entertainment/Island Records on April 20, 2009.
