An original sounding band, Gaucho captivate their audiences’ attention, no matter how many times they’ve seen the band perform live. The set lists change, but the quality of sound oozing from Gaucho does not, injecting power and emotion into listeners as their melodic tunes hit home hard with their soul-searching lyrics and a fusion of rock and funky beats. Hailing from Retford, Nottinghamshire, Gaucho was born late 2004 and still has all their four original band members. They have gone from strength to strength, gigging locally with a few gigs further afield. The band consists of Marcus Shaw, Jason Ellis (Elge), Mark Lodge and Chris Barnacoat (Barney). They all have a musical background that has been an advantage to them in writing their own music and lyrics, as well as with recording and video experience. Gaucho have a simple recipe for their music that comprises of musical input from all of them, bound together by lyrics written mainly by Marcus and based on his own experiences. It seems to work well for the band, and judging from the reaction they receive, there is no need to change it. Over the last few years, Gaucho has built up a dedicated and enthusiastic fan base that follows them to gigs, and they have gained a reputation of performing as a professional band. Gaucho have recorded an EP, So It Begins, which captures their most popular tunes. All of the band’s music is original, powerful and creative. Gaucho have been gigging for the last few years, performing at local venues and also larger one such as The Carven in Liverpool and the Night and Day Café in Manchester. They also supported American rock band, Wheatus, in October 2007. Gaucho reached the finals of their local Battle of the Bands in 2006, and received Best Band 2007 Award voted by the Committee form their local Pitched Awards. The band have received a positive review from Sandman Magazine and recorded various radio interviews, including live sessions. The band have just come out of the studio after recording a further three tracks which will feature on a second EP later this year.
